An Australian GLBT group is putting pressure on the social network FACEBOOK to include the "Transgender" option to the traditional 'Male' and 'Female' selection.

Brisbane’s Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays Association told the media that lots of trans people wanted another option. However, some have commented and argued that the majority of trans people preferred to describe themselves as their acquired gender.

Facebook product manager Naomi Gleit said users had the choice of removing references to their gender entirely from their accounts and profiles.
